I bought the 180 Executive series in 3 piece brown for my wife. This is a very high quality Bible. Very nice, readable dark print. The cover and binding is incredible … absolutely the highest quality we have ever seen on ANY Bible. The concordance is the by far the most extensive I have ever seen in any Bible … 197 pages. Also contains the “Translators To The Readers” along with the translators’ letter to King James in the front. It is very obvious that the staff of LCBP take great care and effort in constructing these Bibles. If you want a KJV without references, alternative words, etc. you can’t go wrong with this very high quality Bible.
Perfect size to carry everywhere. What I appreciate most is the “old-fashioned” font, for lack of any other way to say it. It reminds me of my grandfather’s Bible, albeit in a smaller size.
I will treasure this Bible for years to come!
I bought the 3-piece Executive Series, Iron Calfskin (#180E3B). As in the pictures, the font is quite big and very bold. In my opinion it is the best layout for reading the Authorized Version, making the understanding of 400 year-old English easier to comprehend. Very unique and old-school. However, I’ve never cared for the self-pronouncing words; rather just leave them plain; but again with the big font it’s not a big deal.
Paper is a good quality for a Bible this thick. The gold gilt is well-done.
Having other high-quality Bibles, I was eager to see what ironed calfskin would be like. I love it. Smooth, yet the Bible isn’t flopping everywhere.
My only grip is that the text on the spine looks like junk. “Holy Bible” is perfect, but “Authorized King James” and “Church” is blurred and not sharp/crisp.
This Bible is modern yet old school and includes a 200pg concordance along with (thankfully) the Translators to the Reader. My only beef is with the text on the spine; and again, when everything else is quality, you can easily overlook something like this.
All in all, the Bible is outstanding quality for $50. This Bible would be at least $100 anywhere else. 8.5/10
The bible was ordered on monday evening at 1 o’clock and i received the bible today on wedsdy, delivery was prompt arrived intact and packed with integrity, the caf skin was so soft and supple and smells soooo good! the gold guild on the pages make the bible look like a block of pure Gold when its closed, the pictures on the web and videos dont do the bible justice! 10 out of 5 stars for me, far exceeded my expectations, will be sending love offerings and purchasing more bibles!
My bible was ordered monday evening, I received it Wedsday morning, I am soooo excited, the pictures don’t do the beauty of these bibles justice, the Gold guilding on the pages make the bible pages look like a block of pure gold, and the calfskin is so supple! I am so happy and pleased will definately be back for more, 10 out of 5!
An update: I’ve had the hand size print in executive calfskin for about 10 months now. It was worn BEAUTIFULLY and I treasure it more now even then when I first received it. There was room enough in the margins for me to make my own chain reference system and put the abbreviations with numbers out beside the verses. It is a beautiful Bible and am so happy with it. It goes with me in my nursing home ministry as well as to church and has even become my main bible at home. The text is bold enough to read for extended periods of time and it is the perfect size for my hands
I love this Bible to. In fact if I could only have one Bible this is probably what I would use due to it being a superb plain text Bible. Good balance between size and readability. Puting a chain reference system in the margins of this Bible is a great idea. The margins in this model are more usable than one might think. By the way I bought the Designer series version of this Bible with the red leather spine. I bought it as an extra to have on hand for others. I was suprised at how nice it is. Nicer than the picture in person I think.
Blake, are the margins on the outside of the text the same as on the inside of the text in the gutter? & if so, are these 2 margins roughly
an 1/2″? I’m considering purchasing 1, but I don’t know if I should get the 180 or 355 series.
Preston,
The margins are identical on the 180 and 355 hand size editions. You will want the 390 series midsize Bible if you want nice margins. The midsize 390 is essentially the same Bible as the 180 and 355 with the same nice bold font(10 or 11 I believe). It is a larger Bible, however, because of the demonstrably wider margins. I just received the 390 today. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it. Superb!
Robert, Thanks 4 the reply. I have checked out the Mid Size Wide Margin 390 Series Bible. & it is large. I was looking 4 a small hand size text Bible w/ some sort of margin space in & out. I already own a few Wide Margin Bibles, but they r really 2 large 4 Church use, I feel. I like a text Bible 2 @ least have a concordance & maps.
This is my second time purchasing a Local Church Bible and it was just what I wanted.I live in New Zealand down in the Pacific Ocean and I was surprised how quick the delivery of my Bible was after ordering it(about 2 weeks). My last purchase was a Notetakers Bible which I love for writing study notes and using for teaching in Sunday School, but I found it was quite difficult to hold during a sermon due to its size and weight .The Handsize tan/black executive 3 piece bible is perfect to hold in your hand for a long period of time and it’s much lighter in weight. The text is very BOLD which makes it so much easier to read.Thank you Local Church Bible Publishers for another quality made Bible.
I bought the basic cowhide version of this bible, and I am very happy with the purchase. Extremely well made, beautiful book, large font may be size 10? Eight full-color maps, 197 page concordance, two ribbon markers. Presentation page, death, birth, marriage, and husband and wife family tree pages also included. It also has several blank pages in the front and back of the scriptures so you can add your personal notes. Overall awesome hand size bible you can easily take with you on soul-winning or visitation, or in your lunch bag to work for reading during breaks.
If you look at the actual letter written by Cambridge University Press they conferm that it was an error in their printing, here is the link to the actual letter…….. http://www.localchurchbiblepublishers.com/wp-content/uploads/CambridgeLetter.pdf
It is hard to find good quality Bibles today. I read my Bible a lot and up to now the only Bibles I found which would stand up to daily use were from Cambridge. I prefer a font in the 11/12 area with good boldness. I don’t like red letter editions for I find the red print often faded and harder to read for my aged eyes. Also as if I need someone to point out to me where Jesus is speaking plus the whole Bible is the inspired Word of God. So I have been reading Cambridge Presentation Reference Bibles KJV. The last two I got were around $160 each for the goatskin version. Now these Bibles are not without their problems plus Cambridge doesn’t make them anymore. So I figured the only other place to turn now was RL Allan whose KJV have some problems for me also. Primarily Allan seems to be promoting modern Bible versions such as the ESV and only publishes the KJV as an aside. In their KJV Bibles there is no italicized words and they make comments about older and better manuscripts for starters. Plus the print seems a little weak.
So I decided to order a Local Church Bible Publisher Bible to see if they were really as good as the reviewers say they are.
I ordered a hand sized 180 basic series in the one piece black cover. I ordered this Bible because the print size seemed closest to the font and boldness of print I am used to. It has a large concordence and I like the size. Also on the cover I didn’t want too soft of a cover so I chose the basic series which is suposed to have stiffer leather. And also I prefer a one piece cover.
So I ordered the Bible on Sunday evening and UPS delivered it on Friday.
I am very impressed with this Bible. The cowhide cover is very nice. I like the grain texture and the softness of it. I like the paper and print quality. This was my biggest concern, how readable the text would be. In every way this Bible is comparable to my Cambridge Bibles. It has the self pronouncing text marks which are useful. The maps are adequate and of good quality.
Someone called this a good beginners Bible, but I also think it is a good Bible for one who is no longer a babe in the Word but has graduated from milk to the meat of the Word of God.
So in conclusion I hope LCBP is around for a long time as any Bibles I buy in the future will be from them!!
God Bless
Terry J.
My friend has this Bible and I noticed that it is set exactly the same as my Cambridge Bible (which I love), everything is on the same side of the page and page numbers are the same. Even the headings are the same. I plan to buy this Bible when the pages start falling out of mine. (which will probably be soon – I’ve had it since 1994) I was excited to find a Bible that had everything on the same pages as mine. I was told by a representative from LBCP that they bought the binding equipment from the Cambridge company when Cambridge closed their doors. Cambridge was known for having the best binding on their Bibles. I understand what you are saying in comparing it to the Cambridge Bible.
I thankfully got two 180E3B Black exec. series together with 2 other Bibles from LCBP:
Good quality however there seems to be (at least with the two handsize Bibles i got a few days ago) not to have the exact same top quality leather as the ones shown on the website’s pictures, leather seems of a lower and cheaper quality also the gold printing is not stamped within as shown on picture, but printed on top of the leather. I did not expect to get the lesser quality as clearly the picture of what i ordered shows another higher quality leather.
Also got the Large Print Mid size executive series too but this one did have the very high quality leather with gold markings stamped on the side.
7,5/10 the Large Mid Size i’d give a 9/10
Overall good Bible quality.
I own some nice Allan and Cambridge Bibles, but this Bible in basic style is right up there. It is a favourite because of the nice size and heft, very readable font and I really like the Basic style cover. I prefer 1 piece and the leather is very nice. Smythe-sewn, nice opaque paper, a fantastic Bible. No real negatives, the maps don’t seem fantastic, but this not a complaint.
Does this Bible have the self-pronouncing text marks?
I just received the executive hand size text, 3 piece brown/black. Excellent quality bible, and perhaps the best I have come across yet! The text is very BOLD which is much appreciated, as it makes reading easier. I cannot mention about marking in this bible, because I mark in my old Scofield reference bible. This bible is 9/10 in my book!! The binding is excellent in quality.. that being said it is extremely soft! Upon receiving my bible I found ZERO major flaws! If you are very critical I am sure you could find a very few things which are flawed, but to me it’s a wonderful piece of art that will be used frequently! Thank you LCBP for your labour in the Lords’ vineyard~ I intend to purchase another from you in the future if the good Lord wills.
I have the Executive three piece with black thread and love it. Perfect size Bible that fits nicely into your hand. Soft, supple leather that can easily curl over. The top-grain cowhide has an interesting pronounced grain–very lovely and durable. I wish this Bible was available in the one piece leather at the Exec. and Designer level–a red or tan or green one piece Executive would be fantastic. The print is fantastic–very rich, dark ink, very easy to read–probably just as easy as the Large Print. I would say it is at least a 10 if not 11 pt font. No distractions in this Bible which I appreciate–no center column or other notes–just the text. If LCBP produced a one piece in the Exec. or Designer series I’d buy another one–recommended!

I am SO pleased with this Bible! It is no only beautiful, but well made with bold text. I made a video review of this (as well as the giant print) here. The hand size review starts 2 min and 18 sec into the video. God bless!
